Arlington and Houston Team Up for DUG 2016

As the saying goes, everything is bigger in Texas, and that now includes DUG Conferences.

In 2014, the DUG membership chose The Planetarium at UT-Arlington as host of the 2016 conference. Since then, Houston's Burke Baker Planetarium has rejoined the Digistar family with a full renovation and major system upgrade to the world's first True8K™ dome. As a result of this exciting development, Arlington and Houston have worked with DUG officers to offer a joint conference this year.

Houston and Arlington planetariums

DUG 2016 will begin in Houston on Monday, September 19th. Conference events in Houston include a trip to Space Center Houston and Johnson Space Center, portable Digsitar mirror-dome demonstrations, 8K dome demonstrations, behind-the-scenes tours, full dome photography in the Butterfly Center, and more. Everything except food and lodging is covered by the conference registration fee!

After demonstrations and a school show on Wednesday morning, the group will be transported to Arlington on September 21st. A Standards Committee meeting will be held, followed by a reception to open the Arlington portion of the conference. Also in Arlington will be the annual Business Meeting, workshops and more user demos. The conference closes Friday evening with a DUG Banquet.

Free post-conference workshops will be offered during the morning and afternoon of Saturday, September 24th.

Conference details are posted at www.digistardomes.org. Click the link under "DUG 2016 Host" for more information.
