Sudekum Planetarium Job Opening

Derrick Rohl has announced a part-time planetarium educator position at the Adventure Science Center in Nashville, Kentucky. The Sudekum Planetarium has a Digistar 5 system along with a GOTO Chiron projector.

The Adventure Science Center (ASC) and Sudekum Planetarium provide programs and experiences that engage students, teachers and the general public in astronomy and other science disciplines. With state-of-the-art video, star, and laser projection systems, the Sudekum Planetarium has a rich history of high-quality, engaging programming. ASC seeks a part-time planetarium educator to be a part of this legacy.

This position is responsible for accurate and engaging presentation of all types of planetarium programs, including public programs, school groups, private events, and laser shows. Shows are presented 363 days per year, including on weekends, evenings, and holidays.


  • Present live and recorded programs in the Sudekum Planetarium to all types of visitors and groups.

  • Respond to public and member inquiries after shows in the Planetarium.

  • Maintain familiarity with current developments in astronomy and space exploration and share knowledge with guests in a clear and concise manner.

  • Learn the specialized technical systems present in the Planetarium and perform basic troubleshooting, as required.

  • Assist with office responsibilities and other duties as assigned.
